Akmed Sidi, a prominent social media influencer and CEO of Black Coffee House of Entertainment, has reportedly died after contracting Mpox (formerly known as monkeypox), according to reliable sources.

News of Sidi’s alleged death has spread rapidly across social media platforms, with posts from various accounts expressing condolences and attributing his demise to the Mpox virus.

The report comes as Sierra Leone faces a growing Mpox outbreak. The government’s latest health report, released on May 24, 2025, confirmed 48 new cases, bringing the total to 3,059 since the outbreak began. The update also noted no new recoveries and a death toll of 14, underscoring the disease’s severity.

Authorities are intensifying efforts to curb the spread, shifting from home-based care to facility-based treatment due to the surge in infections. The National Public Health Agency (NPHA) recently inspected a new Mpox Treatment Center at the Police Training School (PTS) in Hastings, which will soon admit patients for specialized care.

The Ministry of Health and NPHA continue to urge the public to adhere to health guidelines, report suspected cases immediately, and rely on official sources for updates. Citizens are encouraged to visit www.npha.gov.sl or call the toll-free line 117 for assistance.
