A new independent media organization, Truth Media Sierra Leone is set to launch with a mission to deliver credible, public-interest journalism amid growing concerns over media trustworthiness in the country.

Founded by award-winning journalist Amadu Lamrana Bah and other media professionals, the platform aims to amplify citizen voices, promote accountability, and provide ethical news coverage across multiple formats. Truth Media will operate through five key channels: Truth Radio 101.9 FM, Truth Television, a twice-weekly Truth Newspaper, an interactive online platform, and an in-house printing press.

Bah, who was named “Journalist of the Year 2023” by the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ), is known for his fearless reporting and holding public officials accountable. He resigned from AYV Media on June 21, 2024, after six years of service, where he held key roles, including Director of News and Current Affairs and host of popular programs like Wake Up Sierra Leone and The Hot Seat.

In his resignation statement, Bah expressed gratitude to AYV’s leadership and colleagues, stating his decision was personal. He assured the public of his continued work as an independent journalist.

Truth Media seeks to train emerging journalists and foster civic engagement through investigative and inclusive reporting. The launch of Truth Radio 101.9 FM marks the beginning of a broader initiative to strengthen media accountability and public participation.

The organization is open to partnerships with institutions aligned with its vision of ethical, fact-based journalism.
