The treason trial of former military officer Sallieu Jalloh was adjourned on Thursday after prosecutors requested additional time to gather evidence.
Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Pademba Road Court No. 1 granted the application, pushing the case to May 28, 2025.
Jalloh, 52, is accused of treason and misprision of treason for allegedly plotting to overthrow the Sierra Leonean government. During his second court appearance, lead prosecutor Yusif Isaac Sesay Esq. stated that the state needed more time to consult key witnesses and strengthen its case.
Magistrate Kekura, acknowledging the seriousness of the charges, approved the request but ordered Jalloh to remain detained at the Male Correctional Centre on Pademba Road, denying bail once again.
The case will resume next Tuesday, when the prosecution is expected to present its full evidence.
