Authorities in the Netherlands have accused the Sierra Leonean government of a lack of cooperation in the extradition of convicted drug baron, Jos Leijdekkers from the West African country.

The Dutch Minister of Justice and Security David van Weel said the Sierra Leone government is currently unreachable regarding the issue. The Dutch media reported that Van Weel is getting impatient with the Sierra Leone government over their snail-pace approach to the matter.

The longer it takes, the more pessimistic I become,” the Minister said during a cabinet meeting in Amsterdam.

Sierraloaded understands that the Sierra Leone Justice Minister and Attorney-General, Alpha Sesay was expected in the Netherlands some weeks ago but failed to show up. Amsterdam claimed that they have been trying to reach Sesay on the phone but have been refusing to answer.

Leijdekkers, also known as Bolle Jos (Fat Jos) was spotted in Sierra Leone earlier in January seated close to the President, Julius Maada Bio during a New Year’s mass. Leijdekkers, who was sentenced to 24 years in prison for six drug shipments of almost 7,000 kilos of Cocaine and for ordering a murder, is said to have married Bio’s eldest daughter.

Sierra Leonean authorities have stated that they have no information regarding the drug baron Bolle Jos. However, investigations conducted by organisations such as Follow the Money and AD have revealed that Jos is significantly linked to the country’s upper-class elite.
