The National Sports Authority (NSA) has extended its heartfelt condolences to Nigeria and the Nigerian Sports Commission for losing 21 athletes after their bus swerved off course and fell over a bridge in Kano.
The heartbreaking tragedy struck Nigeria as 21 young athletes returning from the National Sports Festival were killed in a devastating bus crash.
The fatal incident occurred on a highway between Ogun State and Kano, with early reports citing driver fatigue and excessive speed after an exhausting overnight journey. Most of the victims were youth competitors who had just represented their state in various events, including wheelchair basketball and traditional wrestling.
Furthermore, Reports say the athletes were returning home after a National Sports Festival in Ogun State.
The Leadership of NSA Sierra Leone is saddened by this irreparable loss of great talents and wishes to console the Nigerian people and the bereaved families in respect, during this trying time.
