Sierra Leone’s Ministry of Health has released an update on the Mpox situation across the country, reporting 32 new confirmed cases and one new death as of Monday, May 26th, 2025, at 3:00 PM.
This brings the cumulative total of confirmed Mpox cases in Sierra Leone to 3140.
The update indicates there are currently 1432 active cases nationwide. Encouragingly, 8 new recoveries were reported, bringing the total number of recovered individuals to 1693. Sadly, the total number of deaths attributed to Mpox has risen to 15.
A breakdown of confirmed cases by district shows that Western Urban continues to be the most affected area with 1976 cases, followed by Western Rural with 649 cases. Other districts reporting significant numbers include Bombali (169), Port Loko (94), Kenema (56), and Kono (37). Districts with fewer cases include Falaba (4), Karenko (5), and Pujehun (9).
In terms of gender distribution among confirmed cases, males account for a higher proportion, with 1630 cases, compared to 1510 cases among females.
